Sound Improv is a lab for musicians and good listeners to come together and experiment with the unknown and spontaneous that channels through us with voice, instruments, and ceremony.
This is a chance to let go of music theory, logic, and all control – and instead practice being an open vessel to receive the group sound. This isn’t about showing what an amazing musician you are or how beautiful your voice is. This is about letting go of individual self centeredness and surrendering to what is moving the entire circle. It’s about listening to the other players and being willing to mess up.
In this context, we allow ourselves to discover the music that is wanting to be co-created by the circle. Sometimes it sounds awesome. Sometimes it is totally impalpable. Either way, what we stay true to is not knowing, and allowing it to happen.
If you have any wild and interesting instruments to bring to the circle, please do. If they are tuned in 432 hz, even better. The foundation will always have multiple crystal singing bowls, tibetan bowls, crystal pyramid, bells, chimes, rainsticks, flutes, drums, autoharp, tampura, shruti, harmonium, and other oddities.
This is a kind of ceremony, where we practice loving kindness, empathy, and service to the one. Our intention is to be more connected to ourselves, each other, and all of creation.
